Kathleen Breitman and her husband Arthur Breitman proposed the idea of Tezos in a white paper they published in 2014. Tezos is a “self-amending blockchain” that supports smart contracts and allows network participants to vote on possible changes to the network. This means owners of the network’s native cryptocurrency, XTZ, have a say in authorizing or denying any change proposed by the network developers.
XTZ users can also stake their coins to become validators on the network. The XTZ initial coin offering launched in 2017 and raised a whopping $232 million, making it one of the biggest ICOs of all times. Sign up to a free Swyftx trading account to buy Tezos today.
