Syscoin launched in 2014 with a vision to create a blockchain-powered decentralised marketplace for buying and selling goods. It was the brainchild of Sebastian Schepis, a software developer and the former chief information officer of the Blockchain Foundry.
While the first version of the platform went live in 2014, the team released newer versions of the Syscoin platform with more services in 2016 and 2018. SYS is the native cryptocurrency of the Syscoin blockchain, and it is one of the cheapest means of crypto transactions. It uses the same protocol and hashing algorithm as Bitcoin (BTC) for the highest level of inherent security. SYS has a maximum supply of 888 million coins and more than 602 million coins are already in circulation.
