LayerZero (ZRO) is an omnichain, which refers to a blockchain infrastructure that can connect multiple other blockchains regardless of their smart contract technology.
Its protocol addresses the fragmentation within the blockchain ecosystem by facilitating seamless communication and transactions across various networks, providing a unified framework for cross-chain interactions. This allows developers to build decentralised applications (dApps) that work on multiple ecosystems.
LayerZero was co-founded by Bryan Pellegrino, a tech entrepreneur who serves as the CEO, alongside computer scientist Ryan Zarick, the project’s CTO. Under their leadership, the protocol has established a robust ecosystem supported by strategic partnerships and significant funding from prominent investors.
LayerZero’s dev-friendly approach makes it simple for builders to create cross-chain applications by reducing the complexity typically associated with interoperability tools.
