Core (CORE) is an L1 blockchain designed to work with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), meaning it can support Ethereum's smart contracts and decentralized apps (dApps). It uses a unique "Satoshi Plus" consensus mechanism, blending Bitcoin's mining strength and a delegated Proof-of-Stake (DPoS) system to protect the network. 

The team behind Core aims to build a foundation for web 3.0 by introducing innovative solutions to the blockchain's main challenges. 

The network officially started in January 2023 and is overseen by a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO), with the Core DAO guiding the development of the Satoshi Plus ecosystem. 

CORE is the native token of the protocol.
